Henry P. and Marjorie W. Bruner Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Bruner’s children to honor their parents. Mr. Bruner was president of the local and inter-city passenger bus and rail services in Southeastern Wisconsin in the early 1940s. He went on to become the president of Greyhound Van Lines. Mrs. Bruner received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of Chicago. After raising her five sons, she taught American Literature at Carthage College. She was instrumental in bringing special needs children from Racine to Carthage College for tutoring. She was also past president of the Racine Unified School Board. An application is available through the high school guidance office.
Criteria:
Be a senior from one of the following (award rotates between the following schools): Washington Park, William Horlick, J. I. Case
Have a 3.0 or higher grade point average
Pursue an undergraduate education at an accredited college or university
Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts
Demonstrate financial need
